Nursery: Natalie started nursery on Sunday. The child and her father have been praying for this moment for the last 2 months, maybe even longer. Natty has gone to nursery on a part-time basis to give her a break from Gospel Doctrine class. She sees the door and she b-lines it straight to where the toys are calling her name. She has even knocked on the door as if to say, "Let me in!! Let me in!! It's boring out here!" This Sunday was no different. It was all we could do to keep her entertained and out of trouble during Sacrament Meeting, then off she went to big-girl nursery. Jeremy said she didn't even look back when he dropped her off. When I went to pick her up after church, she knew the routine, get off her rocking horse, come running to give me a hug and then ask for her picture that she colored. When she got her picture she had the sweetest, cutest look of elation on her face. I swear she was walking 3 inches taller the rest of the day. She was now inducted into the nursery and she was walkin' proud. Consequently, the rest of the week she has been less cranky and has been talking more. New words and signs are emerging everyday. And now Jeremy will get his goldfish, spit-up laden suits finally dry-cleaned after 3 years of non-stop service for the noble cause of parenting during church. I vote for nursery every day!
Teeth: Since Makayla has had a big girl bed we have had to come up with different ways to keep her in her bed at nap and bedtime. One of these tactics have been taking privileges away if she violates the law and gets up. We take her new big-girl pillow, her favorite blanket, money from her piggy bank, etc. Well, the last couple of nights Jeremy has started naming off all the different things that she would lose if she got up. In addition to the traditional punishments, she would lose her bed, her room, and her teeth. (Teasing of course.) Makayla didn't like that corporal punishment. Because then she exclaimed, "You are going to take my teeth?!!! You can't take my teeth because then I couldn't talk." Hmmmm, I like that option! Actually, I have had to reassure her that Daddy won't take her teeth. She has been a little worried.
Yankees: For those that don't know, Jeremy is a die-hard Braves fan. While the Braves haven't made the play-offs this year, he is just cheering for any team OTHER THAN the Yankees to win the play-offs. He hates the Yankees. He has been able to watch bits and pieces of the games recently and Makayla is very aware of what baseball is. He has been "teaching" her of the evil of the Yankees. Unfortunately though, she has decided to rebel against her father's loving guidance and has been rooting for the Yankees. She was in the bathtub tonight yelling, "Yankees, Yankees, Yankees!!" The other night it was "Yanks, Yanks, Yanks!!" Jeremy is beside himself with grief, anger and frustration. Where did he go wrong?
Bonus: Here is a beautiful hair picture to add to Makayla's growing portfolio. She also got herself dressed that morning. Does she look like an exhausted, 80's aerobic instructor or what?! Where are her leg warmers?

I can sympathize with you on the bed thing. We moved Lucy to a big girl bed really early (before 18 months), but we are still trying to break her of the habit of sleeping with mom & dad. And now that she has a bunk bed I'm wondering why we didn't buy a full sized bunk because one of us end's up sleeping much of the night with her on her small twin matress.
